Expert ATM Troubleshooting & Repairs. Get Back to Business.

Not every ATM fault needs a technician. When it does, Blue Boar Transaction Services has seen the failure before and can pinpoint the next repair step.

Quick Diagnosis: Common ATM Faults & Likely Causes

Record the screen message, time of failure, and whether the machine retains cards or cash. That detail cuts down repeat visits.

Card reader not accepting cardsRead failures, retained cards, or a shutter that will not open.

A dirty read head, damaged rollers, card-skew sensor, or jammed shutter is common. Do not spray cleaner into the reader. Isolate the terminal and request ATM card reader repair.

PIN pad is unresponsiveKeys fail, the EPP locks, or the keypad stops after a reboot.

A loose cable, failed secure boot check, or EPP security lockout can stop transactions. Avoid repeated power cycles. A qualified technician must test the encrypted PIN path before replacement.

Blank or flickering displayThe screen is dark, faded, or shows uneven backlighting.

Check whether the ATM is powered and listen for the normal startup sequence. Power supply faults, loose display cables, failed backlights, and LCD or TFT damage need proper ATM screen repair.

Receipt printer jamPaper creases, the cutter stalls, or receipts print faintly.

Paper misalignment, a worn feed roller, blocked print head, or cutter fault can trigger the error. We can clean, align, replace the cutter, or arrange receipt printer replacement.

Card Reader Repair & Replacement

A card reader can fail gradually. You may see more rejected cards before the terminal stops reading altogether.

  • We test the read head, rollers, shutter, and card-retained sensor.
  • Cleaning and alignment come first; a full unit swap follows when the mechanism is worn.
  • Local parts inventory helps reduce waiting time for common assemblies.

PIN Pad and Display Repairs

ATM PIN pad failure needs careful handling. An EPP is part of the payment security boundary, so replacement and validation must follow the terminal's security process.

PIN entry

We check secure connections, lockout status, and key response.

Display output

We trace flicker, dead pixels, backlight faults, and cable damage.

Beyond the visible fault

Software, Firmware & Cash Recycler Issues

A machine may look intact while its application, firmware, or recycling module has stopped the transaction. Remote diagnostic support can narrow the fault before a site visit.

Boot-up failures

We check OS errors, service startup, application crashes, and event logs.

Often assessed remotely

Firmware faults

Version conflicts and failed updates can affect peripherals after reboot.

Logs guide the visit

Cash recycler jams

Calibration, note condition, cassette detection, and recycling-module jams require controlled testing.
